Yves Saint Laurent

Born 1st August 1936, Yves Saint Laurent grew up in Oran, Algeria. . At 17, he left for Paris and his drawings shown to Michel de Brunhoff, ( Vogue)who liked and encouraged new talent was impressed by the sketches.Yves Saint Laurent following advice from Michel de Brunhoff studied at fashion school but not for long,following this time YSL was introduced to Dior for whom who worked for until Diors death in 1957.At 21 YSL became head designer for the House of Dior until 1960 when he found himself conscripted to serve in the French Army. On his return 1962 YSL set up his own fashion house with Pierre Berge and from there we had some wonderful fashion history in the making.The perfume story starts in 1964 with the beautiful Chypre fragrance taking it`s name from  YSL`s first initial 'Y' and continuing with the iconic Opium.
